A 14-year-old was struck and killed while riding his bike on Fifth Avenue and 24th Street Saturday afternoon.
Edwin Ajacalon suffered trauma to his head and body and was taken to Methodist Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The gray BMW sedan that struck Ajacalon stayed at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was also transported to Methodist Hospital to be evaluated.
Sunset Park resident Mario Chumil, 41, lived at a 47th Street home with Ajacalon and five other roommates for the past six months.
Chumil says Ajacalon recently lost his job as a dishwasher and may have been out searching for work to pay his rent and help support his family in Guatemala.
Ajacalon's family has been notified of his death. The man he lived with in Brooklyn is trying to raise funds to have him buried back home.
No charges have been filed against the driver of the BMW.
