A Melrose resident says she's complained to her building's management for years about her living conditions, and nothing gets done about it.
Evelyn Figueroa, who has lived in her Section 8 apartment for over a decade, says cracked openings in the corners of her home allow mice to get inside and cracks in her ceilings allow for leaks.
Parts of the floor have either sunk or risen, causing uneven areas over time.
When News 12 went to the on-site management office, a sign said it was closed for lunch.
The city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development website shows 17 open violations on the building, a majority of those from Figueroa's apartment.
The complaint history is 2 1/2 pages long.
The department tells News 12 that it sent out an inspector to the unit Monday and that it will continue to observe the property and take appropriate action where needed to hold the owner accountable.
News 12 did not immediately hear back from the management's main office for a response.
