Tenants' leaky apartment forces family to use umbrella in bathroom
A woman and her three children living in the Albany Houses in Crown Heights say the leaks in their apartment are so bad that they need to use an umbrella in their bathroom.
Zaquana Gordon moved into the NYCHA home this past October and immediately noticed water bubbles and paint peeling throughout the walls.
She filed a complaint through NYCHA’s ticket system as soon as it started, but says it was not properly fixed.
“I don't know how it burst. All I know is that I had a whole bunch of water all through my house,” says Gordon.
She is worried that the issue could lead to a major hazard if it reaches her electrical outlets.
NYCHA issued a statement on the situation saying: "While improving water service at Albany Houses, staff identified a leak Tuesday and repairs are underway. Plumbers are currently fixing the leak and staff will schedule any follow up repairs with our residents."
