Thousands of Brooklyn residents took part Sunday in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
The participants descended on Prospect Park to remember those who have been lost and celebrate those women who are survivors of breast cancer. Organizers say about 1,500 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Brooklyn.
The goal of this year's walk is to raise $1 million. Organizers say the proceeds go toward breast cancer research and patient-service programs at the American Cancer Society.
