A Throggs Neck man is doing his part in trying to keep his neighborhood clean.
John Cortese told News 12 he was out along the Cross Bronx Expressway service road on Saturday picking up others trash.
Cortese says the busy service road is notorious for having lots of trash scattered around. He says the trash in his community makes him frustrated, and motivates him to pitch in.
"This is our community, this is our earth, this is our society," Cortese said. "We have to do better."
Cortese was by himself on Saturday but said there are days where others will help him. He's also looking to grow his efforts.
"I'm hoping to expand in other areas in the Bronx," Cortese added. "It's a difficult task but I'm out here everyday and I'm doing it, and I will continue to do it."
Anyone willing to give him a helping hand can email him at Jcorteseus@yahoo.com.
