The cost of a taxi ride in the city is going up by an average of 17 percent.
The Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) has approved a fare hike for both yellow and livery cabs, but will be keeping the base fare at $2.50.
The flat-rate fee between Manhattan and JFK Airport will also jump from $45 to $52, while the surcharge to Newark Liberty International Airport will rise from $15 to $17.50.
The changes could take effect by the end of the summer.
