The top-seeded boys basketball team at Mott Haven gave up its chance for a first-ever city championship for the school.
Led by Coach Doug Porter, the team was off to a strong start against Brooklyn Collegiate in the PSAL Class A finals. The Mavericks were up 24-11 in the first and were still ahead after the third.
Led by Ervin Mitchell, Brooklyn made a fourth-quarter comeback. Taking home its first-ever PSAL title 56-53.
