The trial continued Monday for the man accused of setting a 2014 fire in a Coney Island apartment building that led to the death of a police officer.
Marcell Dockery is facing charges of second-degree murder, assault and arson. Prosecutors accuse him of setting a mattress on fire in the building. Ultimately, the blaze killed Officer Dennis Guerra.
In court Monday, jurors heard radio transmissions and saw surveillance video taken the day of the fire.
Dockery, then 16 years old, is seen on surveillance video in the building and its elevators.
A short while later, Guerra and another officer, Rosa Rodriguez, enter the building. Just moments later, they used a radio to call for help.
Guerra can be heard gasping for air and relaying his location to a dispatcher.
Emergency responders performed CPR on both officers, but Guerra later died, and Rodriguez suffered severe injuries.
Prosecutors say Dockery confessed to setting the fire.
If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.
