After a teenage honors student was killed in a local club, elected officials are calling for increased regulations at such events.
Nyasia Pryer, 17, was shot and killed after partying at Elk?s Plaza in Bedford-Stuyvesant early Saturday morning. Party-goers say the number of people in the club reached 500, while the occupancy for the building was 200. Neighbors have also asked how the gunman was able to bring a weapon inside the club.
?Teenage dance parties should not be allowed to take place absent strict regulation,? said State Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries.
Officials say a bill calling for stricter regulations is in the beginning stages of development and hopefully will be introduced to legislators by the end of the month.
No arrests have been made.
