A special part of Van Cortlandt Park that pays tribute to American troops has been restored in time for Memorial Day.
Memorial Grove, which was established in the 1940s, pays tribute to soldiers who died in combat during World War II and the Korean War. The area fell into disrepair and in 2007, Councilman Oliver Koppell (D-The Bronx) allocated $250,000 for its restoration.
The completion of the project includes new plaques, the addition of benches and a fence surrounding the memorial.
