The fate of Daniel St. Hubert is now in the hands of the jury who must decide if he is guilty of stabbing 6-year-old Prince Joshua Avitto to death, and nearly killing 7-year-old Mikayla Capers.

Investigators say Avitto and Capers were on their way to get ice cream in June 2014 when St. Hubert attacked them. On the witness stand, Capers identified St. Hupert and told the court he was the "bad man" who killed her friend and injured her.

An expert testified that St. Hubert's DNA matched samples taken from the alleged murder weapon. The defendant’s lawyer, Howard Greenberg, called investigators lazy and said they settled on the first lead they found.

There is no court on Friday or all of next week. The verdict is not expected until April 9, at the earliest.

If convicted, St. Hubert could face a life sentence.
