Police have released surveillance video of a stolen school bus that crashed into a tree Wednesday, just missing an apartment building in Morrisania.
The video shows two students in uniforms run by the camera moments before a bus, owned by Consolidated Bus Transit, backs up onto the sidewalk at East 160th Street and Melrose Avenue.
An attorney for the bus company says that according to the police report, two unidentified kids forced their way onto the locked bus, released the emergency brake, and allowed it to roll back into the tree.
News 12 The Bronx has reached out to the NYPD and the Department of Education for comment, but has not yet heard back.
Neighbors say they hope the suspects are found quickly and that someone is held accountable for the damage.
