A vigil was held in Coney Island Thursday evening for a 16-month-old girl who was allegedly beaten to death by her father.
Nylah Lewis died last week after suffering massive brain injuries.
Police say the injuries were caused by her 19-year-old father, who they believe beat her when she was at his home on Father's Day.
Shaquan Taylor was arrested and charged with assault, criminal contempt and endangering the welfare of a child, and the Brooklyn district attorney is considering upgrading these charges.
The child’s mother is said to have a restraining order against Taylor, so he was also allegedly in violation when taking care of the infant.
The wake for Nylah is scheduled for Friday.
