Neighbors in the Flatbush Gardens community came together to commemorate the lives of 47-year-old Bladimy Mathurin and his 27-year-old stepson, Chinwai Mode.
A vigil was held Wednesday night to mourn their deaths. The two were shot inside of their apartment on Monday morning. Police believe that 47-year-old Jason Pass was responsible for their deaths.
Pass was seen on surveillance video inside the building where the homicide took place taking out a firearm and aiming it at Mathurin. Pass has since been fatally shot by NYPD officers who say that Pass had a knife and lunged at officers Wednesday morning when they approached him in his car.
Candles were placed outside of 1418 Brooklyn Ave., where the victims and gunman lived.
A prayer circle was held for the lives of Mathurin and Mode. Community members remembered their presence and mourned the senseless act of violence that took their lives.
