Dozens of volunteers, Sept. 11 families and first responders came together Sunday in the Bronx to give back to homeless veterans.
The event was part of a day of service to say thank you to homeless Bronx veterans who risked their lives protecting the country. Many of the volunteers are family members who lost loved ones during Sept. 11.
Volunteers made sandwiches and lunch bags for the homeless veterans, and gathered blankets and holiday cards.
The food, blankets and cards will be taken to the Samuel H. Young Post American Legion Post on Hutchinson River Parkway. The post will give the items out to veterans in need.
