A water main break flooded a Greenpoint road on Friday, in an area where residents have been dealing with construction and water service disruptions.
The main broke around 3 a.m. Friday, sending water cascading into Cayler Street. The break happened hours after crews had wrapped construction for the day on Thursday.
The Department of Design and Construction says the flooding was caused by a "night cap" blowing off.
Residents in the area say the main break is their latest frustration. Resident Marisa Jeffries says sporadic water service disruptions due to construction have been difficult because of a new addition to her family.
"We've definitely had our water shut off three times, so kind of not convenient for having a newborn baby," she says.
Josh Cohen, the owner of a nearby restaurant called Jimmy's, says the issues have had a definite impact on his business. He says residents weren't given enough advance notice about water shut-offs.
Crews say they plan to put a "sleeve" on the line to prevent further problems.
