The Williamsburg Water Taxi resumed service Wednesday after a hiatus, but the owner doesn't know how long he'll be able to keep the service afloat.
The four-minute ride from Williamsburg to Manhattan is popular with commuters who are tired of crowded subways and want a view of the Manhattan skyline. It was shut down during colder months because low ridership couldn't balance the costs.
Commuters said Wednesday morning's commute was the most crowded they've seen the water taxi.
"It's a wonderful way to start the morning," said Bonnie Goldblatt, a commuter.
The owner is seeking public financing to subsidize the rising cost of running the service.
