Well-known N.Y. names stump for Clinton in Park Slope
A New York City Council member and a powerful name in the education system stumped for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) Monday at a Park Slope train station.
Councilman Bill de Blasio and United Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten got the word out at an F train stop, located at Seventh Avenue and Ninth Street. They touted Clinton's service in the Senate and her experience while handing out fliers.
Clinton faces opposition for the Democratic presidential nomination from Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.).
According to a Quinnipiac University poll, Obama is winning over voters. He is chipping away at Clinton's home state lead, trailing her 53 percent to 39 percent in the poll.
In an earlier poll, Clinton led Obama 51 percent to 25 percent.
New Yorkers and people in more than 20 states will cast their ballots on Super Tuesday, Feb. 5.
AP wire reports contributed to this story.
