Cops are looking for a thief who they say threatened a woman and her child in Bed-Stuy.
According to police, the 25-year-old victim was getting out of the elevator in her building, which is located in the vicinity of Franklin and Dekalb avenues, when she was attacked in the middle of the afternoon on Monday.
Authorities say the man punched and pushed the woman back into the elevator, and pulled out a pocketknife. He allegedly told her to be quiet and threatened to hurt her child if she didn't hand over her belongings.
The suspect then took off with the woman's pocketbook, but she and the child were not hurt.
Cops released a sketch of the man, who is described as being between 40 and 50 years old. He was wearing a black skull cap with a white stripe, and has a large scar on the left side of his face from his ear to his lip.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS
