Woman killed, daughter hurt by driver backing up
A woman was killed and her daughter was injured by a driver who was backing into a parking space in Williamsburg last night, police say.The accident happened on Clymer Street just before 10 p.m. Witnesses say a Toyota Highlander backed into the pair.Police say the woman who died, Gitzella Katz, was in her late 80s or early 90s and was reportedly a Holocaust survivor. Katz's 68-year-old daughter is recovering in Bellevue Hospital. Investigators say the driver is a 26-year-old man. They say no criminality is suspected, but the investigation is continuing.
