A woman was killed on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway early Monday morning.
Police say the woman was standing outside her car on the BQE when another car slammed into her vehicle, which then struck her.
According to officials, 49-year-old Aissato Diallo, of Staten Island, was a passenger in a Chevy suburban and was standing outside of the vehicle because of a flat tire. They say a 43-year-old BMW driver from New Jersey slammed into the car near the westbound Morgan Avenue exit in Greenpoint around 3:30 a.m., knocking Diallo off of the BQE and down to the ground below on Meeker Avenue.
She was transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the BMW was taken to Woodhull Medical Center with minor injuries and is now in police custody on suspicion of a DUI. Three other people in the Chevy Suburban suffered minor injuries.
The crash caused major delays that backed up the BQE to the Long Island Expressway. All roadways have since reopened in the area.
