A worker died Friday after being trapped in an 8-foot-deep trench that collapsed during construction work at a private school inBrooklyn. A Fire Department spokeswoman said the trench was being dug outsidethe Leif Ericson Day School and caved in at about 2:40 p.m.,burying the worker. Several department units are at the scene digging out thetrench. The 180-student private school, serving students from pre-Kthrough the eighth grade, was evacuated.
