Four members of the New York Yankees came to visit the school of two girls who were killed in a crash on the Bronx River Parkway in April.
Russell Martin, Raul Ibanez, Rafael Soriano and Boone Logan came to Saint Lucy's Catholic School on Mace Avenue today to speak to the students, meet with the kids and give out a few ball caps.
Martin says he learned about the crash from the team's bat boy, Ray Negron.Ibanez says that the Bronx River Parkway tragedy affected him personally since his children are the same age as those who died in the accident.
"It's something unimaginable and my condolences go out to the family and the community," said Ibanez. "It's a very difficult and tragic loss."
One student who showcased her singing skills was presented with a replica Yankees ring.
The event was hosted by the Bronx Chamber of Commerce.
