Witnesses say that a young boy was attacked by a pit bull at a playground earlier today.

EMS say they received a call just after 7 p.m. about a child possibly bitten by a pit bull at a playground at 725 Fox St. A witness says the dog was tied up to a bike rack, but still managed to get a hold of the child while it was playing near a basketball court.

The child was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital in unknown condition.
