An 8-year-old boy died Saturday after a car hit him while he rode his bike with his father at the intersection of Livingston Street and Boerum Place in Downtown Brooklyn.
Witnesses described a terrifying scene from the accident. ?His mouth, nose and whole face started to redden up as the truck was on top of him,? Kevin Davis said. ?As we?re telling [the truck driver] to stop, he rolls over him.?
A U.S. Postal Service truck turned the corner from Boerum Place onto Livingston Street at the same time that the father and his son crossed the street on their bikes. Witnesses said the father went first, and his son followed him.
Alexander Toulouse was taken to Long Island College Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to witnesses, Toulouse and his father had the walk signal and the driver had a green light. Police haven?t filed any charges against the driver, who witnesses guessed was driving 5 mph when he struck the boy.
