‘Youth Huddle’ held at McDonald’s after brawl
The fight inside a Flatbush McDonald's that has gone viral on the Internet has prompted a "Youth Huddle" in an effort to move forward from the attack.
As News 12 has reported, police say six teenage girls were arrested for the brutal beating of another teenage girl. The arrests include Zaira Ingeran, 16, who was charged with assault and inciting a riot, and Mercedes Wilkinson, 16, charged with robbery and gang assault.
Also charged were Tilani Marshall, 17, and Deahvina Gonzalez, 15, who were taken into custody Friday. Aniah Ferguson, 16, also admitted to beating the teen. All three were charged with robbery and gang assault.
A 14-year-old girl was the latest arrest in connection to the incident. She was taken into custody in Atlanta.
The victim, Ariana Taylor, has since revealed her identity on Facebook.
The National Action Network holds frequent Youth Huddles as a way to keep peace in the streets.
"There are alternative ways of communicating and resolving problems [other] than violence," said the Rev. Kevin McCall at the event.
Mayor Bill de Blasio also spoke about the incident, saying that some young people have "gone astray and we need to reach them."
