A triple shooting on Gerard Avenue near East 168th Street left a teenager dead and two others wounded Monday night, police say.
Authorities say Ruben Redman, 15, was killed in a shootout between two groups of men at 1225 Gerard Ave. at around 9:15 p.m. Two other teens, both 17 years old, were taken to Lincoln Hospital with graze wounds to the head and leg.
According to police, the altercation that resulted in the fatal shooting may have started with an argument over graffiti.
Redman's neighbors say the teen loved to draw graffiti on paper, but he was never involved in gang-related activities.
"He's actually [a] fun, nice person," says Marilyn Dumeng, "and I would describe him as my brother."
So far, no arrests have been made in the case.
