A car fleeing police crashed into another vehicle on the Belt Parkway Thursday morning, leaving one person dead and injuring four others.
The accident occurred on the westbound side of the parkway at around 1 a.m. Two men traveling in a 1997 Nissan were allegedly fleeing police in a stolen vehicle. Police say the chase started on local roads and spilled onto the parkway. They say one of the men sustained injuries in the crash and was treated at Maimonides Medical Center.
According to police, the Nissan crashed into another car carrying four people. One man, reportedly the driver, was killed. The rest of the passengers, one man and two women, were taken to Lutheran Hospital to treat their injuries.
Police currently have the two suspects in custody at the 68th Precinct and are investigating the crash.
