1 person dead, 1 injured after trench collapse at Bushwick construction site

Police say one person has died and another was injured following a trench collapse at a Bushwick construction site this morning.
The Department of Buildings says they were called to 174 Jefferson St. following the construction site incident around 8:30 a.m.
At the scene, inspectors observed a two-story dwelling under active permit for foundation work and saw a portion of the rubble foundation had collapsed, injuring the two workers.
Both were transported to local hospitals where one has died.
