Firefighters rushed to the scene of a fire at a four-story apartment building on Huron Street in Greenpoint early Thursday morning.

According to the FDNY, the call came in around 6:32 a.m. for a fire on the first floor of the building near Manhattan Avenue. About 12 units — roughly 60 firefighters and EMS personnel — responded to the scene. The fire was brought under control just before 7:30 a.m.

One person was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital–Cornell for treatment, officials said.

News 12 crews at the scene saw firefighters with ladders extended to the upper floors and several neighbors standing on the street watching as crews wrapped up their work.

Bret Roberson, who lives on the fourth floor, says she managed to get out safely with other neighbors.

“One of my neighbors helped me get down the stairs with my cat, and all the firetrucks arrived. They pulled our neighbor out from the third floor on a gurney — he had soot all over his face,” Roberson said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
