Family members gathered in Longwood on Friday to commemorate the one-year anniversary of a deadly police-involved crash that killed one person and injured at least ten others.
Police say the crash occurred on Oct. 6, 2022, when officers were responding to a call about a stolen car. At the time, the NYPD said the cruiser was cut off by another car which sent it flying onto the sidewalk. Authorities at the time said all were expected to survive.
News 12 learned from from family members that 65-year-old Milagros Bonet died from crash-related injuries months later. Marisol Diaz, the daughter of Bonet, says the crash killed her mother, injured her niece and left her sister in a wheelchair.
The family's attorney, John Coyle, says the family is calling for answers and for the NYPD to take responsibility.
News 12 has reached out to the NYPD for further information on the victims and the crash, they tell us they can't comment on pending litigation.
