A massive fire in the Bronx left residents trapped inside an apartment building in Soundview Tuesday.
The FDNY says the fire broke out just before 11 a.m. on the fourth floor of a Watson Avenue apartment building.
Firefighters controlled the fire in less than an hour, but the flames left 12 people injured, including two firefighters and 10 civilians.
Four of those injured were transported to the hospital in critical condition.
"There was heavy smoke and fire coming out several windows, several occupants calling for help from the inside,” said FDNY Battalion 18 Chief Peter Robb.
A woman, who lives in the building, says she saw the frightening fire unfold and tried to go inside to help but was stopped.
Although the FDNY has not revealed the ages of any of those who were rescues, News 12 was on scene and saw one child being saved from an apartment window who appeared to be OK.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
