12 firefighters suffer heat exhaustion in 3-alarm blaze
A dozen firefighters suffered from heat exhaustion while battling a three-alarm fire at an industrial building in Hunts Point.
Nearly 100 employees at Miron and Sons Linen Service, a commercial laundry company that serves hotels throughout the city, were unable to report to work after flames destroyed the building at around 3:30 a.m. Monday.
Battalion chief Joseph Woznica says the blaze was especially dangerous because it was continuously fed by a gas line.
Officials say no one was inside at the time, and no serious injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. To watch more from the Hunts Point fire, click on iO Extra on Channel 612.
