A 14-year-old was rescued Thursday after a tidal current in Norwalk swept the teen, fire officials said.

Norwalk fire and police with the Rowayton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the Bluff Avenue Bridge for a reported drowning.

Officials say the teen was swept by the current north of the bridge and struggled to remain above the water.

Two firefighters dove in from the bridge and were able to assist the victim to shore, according to fire officials.

Paramedics evaluated the teen, who did not require further treatment.
