Brooklyn kicked off the unofficial start of summer by marking Memorial Day with several parades and events to honor those who served.
The 157th Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade is the country's oldest continuously run Memorial Day parade. Hundreds of parade participants carried flags, played music, and performed for the crowds.
News 12's Lindsay Tanney had a front seat look at the festivities where the Bay Ridge community came together for their parade on 3rd Avenue and 78th Street,
Parade-goers said they were grateful to attend and to celebrate those who have served.
