A 16-year-old boy is recovering after being shot in the stomach in Bedford-Stuyvesant over the weekend—just a day before Mayor Eric Adams announced that New York City is seeing its lowest number of shootings in recorded history.
Police say they got a 911 call just before 5 p.m. Saturday about a shooting inside 1831 Fulton St., between Patchen and Ralph Avenues.
Officers found the teen hurt and rushed him to Kings County Hospital.
He was originally listed in critical condition but is now stable, according to police.
No arrests have been made at this time.
The NYPD says the investigation is ongoing.
On Sunday, Mayor Adams posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Following a record low May, shootings and homicides since the start of the year are at the lowest levels in recorded history.”
According to NYPD data, 264 shootings have been recorded citywide between January and May 2025—beating the previous record low of 267 in 2018.
Anyone with information on the Bed-stuy shooting is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
