A 17-year-old girl is expected to recover after police say she was shot multiple times late Monday night outside a McDonald's in East New York.

Police tell us they received a 911 call just before midnight for a person shot in front of 835 Pennsylvania Ave., near Linden Boulevard.

When officers arrived, they found the teenager with multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen. She was taken to Brookdale Hospital and is expected to be OK.

By early Tuesday morning, the scene was still active. The entrance to the McDonald's drive-thru remained blocked off with police tape. A white Honda was still parked facing the wrong direction in the drive-thru, with what appeared to be a bullet hole in the windshield and the driver's door left open.

So far, investigators have not said what led to the shooting or whether the girl knew the person who shot her. No arrests have been made.

The violence left neighbors shaken. "That sucks. I just heard about the girl in the train, now this. I think everybody losing their mind around here. That shocks me. It's not normal. It's hard to believe," East New York resident Harold B. told News 12.
