Couples from Rockland, New York City, and even New Jersey got married on the palindrome date, meaning the numbers are the same forward and backward.
Orangetown officials say Tuesday was one of the busiest days in recent years for marriage ceremonies and believe that much of that is due to the unique date, as well as limited appointments.
As a parting gift, the town gave the newlyweds COVID-19 testing kits and masks.
