Police have made two arrests in the deadly shooting inside a Target in Downtown Brooklyn.
Police tell News 12 that 44-year-old Bobby Jackson and 26-year-old Gregory Kimble have been arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment, among a list of other charges.
Sources tell News 12 two men, caught on camera, were taunting the alleged shooter. The victim who is not seen in the video allegedly tried to come up on the side of the shooter to punch him, but the man with the gun turned and shot him.
News 12 is told the shooter ran off and the three other men chased after him down the escalator and into the lobby where they beat him up.
The shooter and the others were taken into custody in the lobby. The alleged shooter was briefly hospitalized for his injuries.
The incident happened around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday while Target was open.
The man who was shot has been identified as 25-year-old Carlton Spencer. He was rushed to the hospital, and later died.
Police say they're looking into the possibility the incident is gang-related.
Borough President Eric Adams spoke out against the shooting at the mall Thursday afternoon.
"One should not enter the Target store and become a target of a crime. We want to protect our shoppers and the only way we can do that is to have the proper coordination that we see and to make sure that we do all that we can to prevent the level of danger that we saw take place," says Adams.
The borough president is calling on the police department to beef up its presence in the area ahead of the holiday shopping season.
