The Archdiocese of New York has announced that Sacred Heart School in Highbridge and Immaculate Conception School in Melrose will cease operations as Catholic institutions at the end of the current academic year.
The Brilla Schools Network, a public charter school group, will take over the buildings, offering lottery preference to current students and their siblings.
Parents are expressing disappointment, saying their families had deep ties to the school.
They tell News 12 that they will now have to look for alternative options.
