Two Brooklyn nonprofit organizations have been chosen as the winners of a $30,000 grant from the New York Knicks and Squarespace.
It’s From the Sole and First Tech Fund are Brooklyn-based organizations that are among this year’s winners of the “Make It Awards” from Squarespace and the New York Knicks.
It’s From the Sole was founded by self-proclaimed sneakerhead Andre McDonnell eight years ago and has provided over 30,000 sneakers to those in need.
First Tech Fund was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic after its co-founders noticed how many students did not have access to the technology needed for virtual learning.
Both organizations say this money will allow them to continue the work they’re doing in their communities.
“Me and my co-founder were basically screaming,” said First Tech Fund co-founder Hana Seligman.
