Brooklyn residents looking to spend their days in the summer sun will need to find an alternative location to two popular Brooklyn parks.
Council Member Shahana Hanif announced Monday that Carroll Park and Boerum Park will both be partially closed off for the rest of the summer, starting on July 10.
The large asphalt areas of the park will be closed off by the New York City Parks Department as the city says they’ll be taking on a green infrastructure project.
Parts of Carroll Park have already been barricaded off. Brooklyn residents who spend their summers in the park are wondering what their other options are.
“We play basketball here every day,” said Jack L., a Brooklyn resident who frequents Carroll Park with his friends at the now closed off courts. “It's really sad we always come here. It's the biggest court near here. Not sure where we'll go to play when it's closed.”
News 12 has reached out to Hanif’s office and the Parks Department for more information on the infrastructure project’s details and is awaiting a response.
