Two classic stories are combined into one new show on stage just for this holiday season. That's what we find in A Sherlock Carol.
A Sherlock Carol combines two classic tales of Sherlock Holmes and Ebeneezer Scrooge woven into a Christmastime plot that finds Holmes in need of the help of Scrooge of all people.
“He is approached by the ghost of the redeemed Ebeneezer Scrooge, who guides him through his own life,” says Thom Sesma, who plays Scrooge. “Sort of trips him up in his own Christmas carol."
Familiar characters from the worlds of Sherlock Holmes and "A Christmas Carol," including a grown Tiny Tim, appear. Drew McVety steps into the shoes of the famed and now troubled detective.
“He's not sure why he does what he does anymore, and the line is, there is nothing new under the sun, and he's in an identity crisis,” says McVety.
"A Sherlock Carol" is conceived by writer and director Mark Shanahan, and running at off-Broadway's New World Stages in New York.
"A Sherlock Carol" is being performed through Jan. 2.
