(AP) - Two men are dead and two others are hurt after a shooting that brought a violent end to an all-night Brownsville barbecue meant to celebrate the West Indian American Day parade.
Friends identified one of the victims as 25-year-old construction worker Marvin Brown. Police say the other person killed was 26-year-old David Harris, who was visiting from Canada.
A third man was shot in the leg and hospitalized in stable condition, and a fourth man was punched in the face and not seriously hurt. The shots were fired at around 5:45 a.m. Monday, police say.
Brown's girlfriend Renee Brady tells the Daily News he must not have been an intended target. She says he advocated nonviolence.
