Two NYPD officers are recovering after police said they were hit by a car in Gravesend and the driver took off.

Police said it happened just before 4:40 a.m. on Tuesday when the officers tried to pull a man over at the intersection of West 8th Street and Quentin Road.

“That’s not something that you see every day,” said Lilly Rojas, of Gravesend.

“This is a quiet area,” said Oleg Rusetsky, of Gravesend. “Nothing really happens here.”

Surveillance video obtained by News 12 showed two officers exiting their police car and approaching the other car, when that driver reversed and appeared to hit the officers.

The video showed one officer falling to the ground as the driver got away.

Police say the driver took off down Quentin Road in a gray Mercedes C300.

“Too many corners, narrow roads, things like that,” said Rusetsky. “It’s very difficult to actually speed without hitting something, as we can see here.”

Police said one officer suffered minor injuries to his legs, and the other sustained minor injuries to his left foot.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital and are expected to be OK.

As of Tuesday afternoon, no arrests had been made.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
