Police say officers called to investigate a burglary found a man and a woman dead inside a Bensonhurst apartment Thursday evening.
The bodies of 71-year-old William Romano and 36-year-old Elviza Aronova were found shortly after 5 p.m. at 8020 Bay Parkway. Residents say Romano used to be the building's landlord and Aronova was his live-in girlfriend.
Police say they discovered Romano's body in the bathtub and Aronova's on the bed covered with a sheet. According to investigators, no weapons were found with the bodies. Aronova was stabbed and suffered blunt force trauma, police say. Romano also suffered head trauma.
Tenants described Romano as a good landlord who got along well with all the residents.
