2 students taken into custody after knives found at Bed-Stuy school

Two students were taken into custody Thursday morning after police say they were seen with knives inside a Bed-Stuy school.

According to the New York City Police Department, the incident happened around 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Brooklyn Academy of Global Finance, located at 125 Stuyvesant Ave.

Police say two individuals were observed with weapons inside the school building. Officers responded and took both students into custody. Two knives were recovered.

No injuries were reported.

As of Friday morning, Feb. 13, police say there are no charges and no arrests at this time. Officials describe the information as preliminary.

Investigators have not said who first noticed the students with the knives or how the situation was brought to the attention of authorities. It is also unclear what disciplinary or legal steps could follow.

The case is being handled by the 81st Precinct. Police say there is no active threat.
