Police are searching for the men responsible for shooting two 17-year-old boys in Prospect Heights Monday.
Police say the first shooting happened at 3:13 p.m. at 45th Street and Snyder Avenue. They say the teen was walking home from school when he was shot once in the torso. News 12 is told the suspect is described as a black male who was last seen driving a maroon sedan.
Officials say the second shooting occurred around 5 p.m. in front of a discount store on Franklin Avenue. They say the unidentified teen was leaving the store when he was shot in the buttocks.
Police released a surveillance video of the suspect along with his accomplices.
Both teens were taken to Kings County Hospital and are expected to be OK.
City Councilman Jumaane Williams says that the youth should not fear being shot while walking home from school. He says incidents like these should not be accepted as normal.
Police say at this time the shootings do not appear to be related.
