2 women on the run after stealing over $6K in jewelry from Prospect Height store

Police are searching for two women accused of stealing more than $6,000 worth of jewelry from Specific Gravity store on Vanderbilt Avenue in Prospect Heights.

Investigators say the theft happened around 5:10 p.m. last Wednesday.

Surveillance video released by police show the women browsing the store with their wallets out and looking at several pieces of jewelry.

Police say one of them distracted an employee while the other then reached into a display case and took jewelry valued at about $6,060.

Both suspects ran off. No injuries were reported.
