The NYPD displayed some of the hundreds of motorbikes that have been seized citywide at the 52nd Precinct in the Bronx on Tuesday.
Of the over 200 bikes seized, 150 of them were seized in the Bronx on Sunday. NYPD told News 12 that many of the seized bikes were found without VINs and were unregistered and uninsured.
Several of the bikes have also reportedly been linked to crimes.
One of the assistant chiefs of the NYPD said that someone was riding an illegal motorbike during the Dominican Parade this past Sunday when they fired a gun into the air. Police say the man behind that was caught.
The city held a news conference in June displaying the crushing of several illegal bikes. Over the weeks since that conference, the NYPD says it has created new tactics to stop and seize the illegal vehicles.
